Admissions & Enrollment

ESD accepts students from age 4 (Kindergarten) through Grade 12 (Secondary). Our three levels are: Kindergarten (ages 4–6), Elementary School (Grades 1–6, ages 6–12), and Middle & High School (Grades 7–12, ages 12–18).
The ESD academic year runs from September through June, aligned with European and North American school calendars. We occasionally accept mid-year enrollments depending on availability and the student's academic situation.
Required documents typically include: birth certificate or passport copy, most recent academic transcripts or report cards, any relevant medical or learning support documentation, and completion of our enrollment form. Our admissions team will guide you through the full process during your initial consultation.
We conduct a brief informal academic assessment for all new students to understand their current level and identify the best classroom fit. This is a supportive evaluation, not a competitive exam. The goal is to welcome your child in a way that sets them up for immediate success.
Yes, depending on seat availability and the student's academic readiness. We recommend contacting us as early as possible to confirm availability for your preferred start date. WhatsApp us at +1-849-451-5893 for the fastest response.

Curriculum & Language

ESD offers two bilingual tracks: Spanish-English and French-English. Both tracks deliver the full academic curriculum in both target languages simultaneously, with native or near-native speaking teachers for each language. French instruction is aligned with the National Ministry of Education of France standards.
Yes. Language immersion is one of the most powerful learning tools available to children. Our teachers are trained in immersive language acquisition methods and will support your child's integration into the bilingual environment at a pace appropriate to their age and development. Many of our students arrive with zero knowledge of a second language and become fluent within 12–18 months.
ESD follows a rigorous international curriculum with strong alignment to French Ministry of Education standards, supplemented by European academic best practices and local Dominican Republic Ministry of Education requirements. This combination ensures transcripts and credits are recognized by schools in Europe, North America, and Latin America.
Smartphones, tablets, and personal devices are prohibited for students during the school day. This is a deliberate pedagogical choice, not a restriction. Research consistently shows that screen-free environments improve focus, social development, verbal communication, and creative problem-solving — all of which are central to our academic model. Students use books, physical materials, and direct interaction to learn.
We maintain a maximum of 15 students per classroom. This is intentional — small class sizes allow teachers to provide individualized attention, adapt their pace to each student's needs, and build meaningful relationships that support long-term academic success.

Fees & Payment

Tuition varies by grade level and enrollment date. We do not publish a flat rate publicly because every family's situation is different — some families need specific payment plans, and fees are occasionally adjusted based on enrollment timing. We invite you to schedule a free 10-minute admissions call with Kathy Reynaud for a personalized proposal. Visit our Fee Structure page for more context.
Yes. ESD offers flexible payment arrangements including monthly and trimestral payment options. These details are discussed during your admissions consultation so we can find the plan that works best for your family.
Yes, there is a one-time enrollment fee to secure your child's place in their assigned class. This fee is separate from monthly tuition. Your admissions consultant will provide the current amount during your initial call.

Living in Cabarete

Absolutely. Cabarete is one of the most internationally diverse communities in the Caribbean. It is safe, walkable, and home to families from over 30 nationalities. The Cabarete-Sosúa corridor offers excellent international schools, restaurants, healthcare, and direct access to stunning beaches — all with a lower cost of living than comparable international communities in Europe or North America.
ESD is part of a broader ecosystem that serves international families in the North Coast. Our sister institution, the Cabarete Language Institute (CLI), offers relocation and real estate services for families moving to the area. We can connect you with the right resources to make your transition as smooth as possible. Visit cabaretelanguage.com for more information.
ESD is home to students from more than 20 nationalities, including families from France, Switzerland, Germany, the United States, Canada, Italy, the Dominican Republic, and beyond. This diversity is one of our greatest strengths and reflects the international character of the Cabarete-Sosúa community.
