Real Learning. Human Connection.
Screen-free, international education in Cabarete-Sosúa, Dominican Republic.

Founders & Directors — ESD European School
It is both an honor and a joy to welcome you to ESD European School, an international, bilingual, and screen-free school in Cabarete created from our shared vision as educators with more than 20 years of experience teaching across Europe and Latin America.
When we founded ESD in 2020, our goal was clear: to build a world-class bilingual school in the Dominican Republic where children could learn through full immersion in English, Spanish, and French while growing into confident, curious, and emotionally balanced human beings.
We wanted to return to what truly matters in education—real human connection, small class sizes, and teachers who genuinely care. In a world where children spend more time on screens than with people, and where technology is replacing the essentials of childhood, we chose a different path:
a screen-free international school based on immersion, effort, and meaningful learning. Because it is through effort that the brain creates connections, intelligence grows, and confidence is born.
Today, ESD welcomes families from over 20 nationalities, creating a multicultural community where children learn to think critically, communicate clearly, solve problems independently, and build lifelong friendships. Our preschool, primary, and secondary programs—rooted in the British, Spanish, and French curricula—prepare students from ages 3 to 17 to become global citizens ready to thrive anywhere in the world.
ESD is both a private school and a foundation, opening doors for both international and local families. Each year, ESD offers scholarships of merit and excellence to talented Dominican students, helping break the cycle of poverty through high-quality education.
Families who join ESD share our values: they appreciate the joy of seeing their children grow up in a safe, natural, international environment, run barefoot during recess, and learn in a school where nature, family, and education go hand in hand. They seek a place where academic excellence coexists with emotional well-being, kindness, and cultural diversity.
If you share our vision—where childhood is protected, where human connection comes before screens, and where learning happens through full immersion, curiosity, and courage—then you have everything it takes to become part of the ESD community.

Our mission
At ESD European School, our mission is to provide high-quality international education for students from preschool through secondary school in the Dominican Republic.
As a bilingual international school in Cabarete, we are committed to academic excellence, emotional well-being, and a holistic approach to learning.
Our educational model is built on small class sizes, immersive language learning (English, Spanish, and French), and a safe, healthy, multicultural environment where children develop both academically and personally. We believe that every child deserves to learn in a space where they feel supported, challenged, and inspired.
We encourage students to become curious, creative, and critical thinkers through active, hands-on learning experiences. As a screen-free school, we prioritize real human interaction, meaningful understanding, and the development of essential life skills—helping students grow into confident, independent, and empathetic global citizens.
Learning Process
At ESD European School, learning is an active, mindful, and hands-on process designed to help children develop the skills that truly build intelligence, character, and confidence. As an international bilingual school in the Dominican Republic, our approach blends academic rigor with meaningful human connection.
Students learn to write in cursive, solve calculations on paper, and investigate scientific concepts through experiments and real-world exploration. These experiences form strong neurological pathways that foster cognitive development, perseverance, creativity, and a genuine love for learning.
In our bilingual program, students study some subjects in English and others in Spanish, regardless of their initial proficiency. Through full immersion and the support of experienced teachers from diverse international backgrounds, children become naturally bilingual.
For families seeking a broader international education, our trilingual section adds French, following the same immersive and progressive methodology inspired by the French national curriculum.
In a world where children increasingly depend on screens, ESD takes a different path. As a small screen-free international school, we teach students to think, create, question, and solve problems independently before turning to technology. This approach strengthens critical thinking, enhances brain development, and supports emotional well-being.
Above all, our students learn in an environment defined by motivation, empathy, and genuine human interaction—a place where curiosity is encouraged, friendships grow naturally, and children discover the pleasure of learning without distractions.
